Shuang Cheng Restaurant

I've been going here for 30 years or more. You have to know what to order. They're the best in town at what they do. Chicken tofu soup, Singapore rice noodles and steamed lobster and I'm in heaven!! Many other excellent items to choose from. I personally don't think that there's a better Chinese restaurant.

We take our out of town visitors here everytime. We love this place. Food always is fresh and a great price. At times you will have to wait as they sometimes only have 1 waiter. It shows you the peak times but it generally is always busy. We have never waited more then 5 mins for a table.

Outstanding Chinese food experience. Definitely in my top 5 experiences. Fried fish in hot meat sauce was exceptional.

Best lunch specials in Minneapolis! Less than $10 for a full entree with fried rice and cheese puffs or an egg roll. Super nice family run place that consistently pumps out quality food. Hidden gem defines this spot.

Pick up orders are so fast. the food is really yummy and the staff are very prompt. I will definitely go again!

Possibly the best Chinese restaurant in the state of Minnesota. If you can find parking, try to visit early on a Tuesday or Wednesday, so you don’t have to wait in line. Every item on the menu is delicious. Try ordering a mixed seafood dinner plate.Also, try the homemade fried chili in oil. It’s amazing.

The portions are big and the prices are cheap. Food tastes pretty good. Only thing that bothered me is that in the shrimp with curry sauce dish they only put 5 shrimp in there. The rest of the dish is basically just bamboo, onion, and green onion. Wish there was more shrimp.

Really great place to go for lunch specials, they're around $8 and always more than enough food. Service is always very friendly.

Always amazing. The lunch specials are perfect. We love General Tso's, chicken lo mein, and the fried rice.

Good and fast service. The food portions are very big and there is a lot of options on the menu about vegetables, meat, beef, fish, noodles, rice, tofu, etc. Tasty food. Prices around 12 dollars, a bit less for side dishes. Cream cheese wontons are delicious!

Outstanding service and quite good food. A group of friends and I went to this restaurant for the first time, as a lunch occasion. We ordered a variety of items, from vegetarian dishes to my shrimp paste pork hotpot. The food came out quickly as did the tea. The food itself was very good, I noticed some quite high quality roast pork in my hotpot and the flavours were very good. (I believe this place may be Chinese Vietnamese, based on what I tasted) Also, noteworthy was the sufficient amount of rice the staff provided us, which is getting rare these days. I must note the service was excellent, with staff quick to refill the tea, replenish the rice and providing take-out boxes without a grumble. I would suggest better cleaning for the lavatories, however. Overall, I would most certainly come to this restaurant again based on the food and good service.

I was there on the cold day...Food taste so delicious and the services so fast...I will be back next time

Dishes average about 12$ and up, depending on how fancy you're tryna go. But the portions are BIG, and taste is definitely one of the best in the area.

They have a small bowl of spicy sauce made of peppers and oil on each table which is great but mine was burned so I grabbed one from another table but it was also burned. There are little tea cups on each table but mine had an old fortune stuck inside and some other debris. The egg rolls and pork egg foo young I had were mediocre but the server was very good so that's what keeps Shuang Cheng out of the 2 star or worse category. You can find significantly better Chinese within walking distance from here.

Delicious food that's a great price and healthy servings, welcoming service nightly specials

Love it. I've been coming here for over 15 years and this isn't your cheap washed out chinese food. This is one of two locations in the twin cities that I would suggest to family.

Delicious Cantonese food, located in probably the cutest little section of dinkytown, and good service. It is a pay at the counter sort of place, I didn't really know that the first time I went and ended up kind of visiting with friends for a really long time before we figured it out. On the plus side, they won't kick you out I guess 😂

I love eating at Shuang Cheng. The food is always good. There are so many choices. I love that they have lots of vegetarian options, as well as many meat, chicken and seafood dishes. They even have duck on the menu. The lunch specials are a really inexpensive way to eat. The service is good and fast, too. I have been a customer for over 10 years!

One of my most favorite Chinese restaurants in Dinky Town. Their Fried Walleye is excellent, any way you cut it! The staff may seem rude, but they are busy and are fairly direct, but polite. The quality of the food here is excellent; I've never walked away from this place thinking, "Now WHY did I order THAT?" It's a popular hangout for the uni students and for anyone who likes Chinese food.The mark/quality of a good ethnic restaurant is the number of customers of that ethnicity at the restaurant - the more, the better - and Shuang Cheng does not disappoint!

This restaurant was able to accommodate a party of 50 of us at last minute and allowed us to pay separate checks. The service was fast and outstanding. Food came out incredibly quick, was delicious and portions were generous. Their menu probably has the most options I've ever seen in a Chinese restaurant.

Love that they had a stir fried beef and asparagus special! The asparagus was fresh and cooked just right, plenty of meat and asparagus on the plate! Down side was it was pricey-14.95-and very heavy on the ginger. I mean, I love fresh ginger, but some bites I could only taste ginger. There's a huge variety of seafood, service was great and very friendly. Sesame chicken was delicious!

Have been to this place for over 10 years and have never been disappointed. The service is incredible and attentive. Food is delicious and comes out fast with large portions. Shuang Cheng always remains to be a great place to eat with other people with a family friendly atmosphere.

First time here and a friend walks in and tells my kids that “this is the best Chinese restaurant in the Twin Cities”. We were seated right away as well walked in the door on a Friday night. There were able amount of people still in the restaurant. People were ordering takeouts also. Food came in relatively fast. Dishes were not as big as I thought they would be for the price. Prices were probably $1-$2 higher than what I’m used to seeing. Tasted pretty good. Fried chicken looked burnt but was really good! Assort meat & veggies Fun was good except the noodles were broken up. Didn’t look fresh. Triple delight was good, I’ve had better. Fried rice was a little sticky.Bus boy cleaned tables offend & server filled water often. I would definitely come back but it was not a 5 Star for me because it didn’t wow me.

ShuangCheng is the best restaurant in the whole Twin Cities area. Been going there for over 25yrs. Same owner, same service. Best tasting foods, best service & love everything about it. If you haven't been here, you don't know what you are missing. Thank you Shruang Cheng for the best foods you always serve. Same taste as my college years, 27 years ago. Fried walleye in hot meat sauce, stir fried oyster in black bean sauce, and 5 season black pepper squid is awesome.

Authentic chinese food, ingredients always fresh, never disappointed

Literally been coming here for 25 years. Absolutely love this place!! My great grandpa brought me here when I was a child and now I bring my children here!!

Been coming back for 29 years! I've been eating at Shuang Cheng since my freshman year of college, and they have always been terrific! Hands down the best coastal Cantonese food in the Twin Cities. Literally nothing on the menu can disappoint, I've had about half the menu (it's huge!), I especially like the spicy baked crab and spicy baked squid. This is a comfort food go to!

Great food and great fast and friendly service! You can never pass up their Sesame Chicken special! Great food with a great price in which you simply can’t beat!

Their food is always amazing. The employees are nice, and they do take out.

Lunch hour can take a while so beware of the rush. A four of us went and we knew it would be a tricky time because we could tell they were understaffed with a waiting line. Our food took longer than we hoped and they arrived in waves. The taste was great and the portions were filling. Next time I'm in the area, I'll avoid the lunch hour.

Very affordable, great taste authentic chinese food

We've been going here for Xmas Eve for the last several years now. Used to be pretty easy to get a table but this place's popularity has sky rocketed.Food is outstanding. However the concept of a reservation is lost when they are busy and service and food come to your table at a crawl. I think they are I'll prepared for crowds.

If you’re hesitant about coming here, don’t. It is absolutely my favorite place of all time. I always go here for two things. The baked spicy crab and the fried walleye in hot meat sauce. Get those two, it’ll change your life.

By far my favorite Chinese place. I’ve been coming here for years, and it’s always tasty. Veggies are SO fresh and cooked very well. Wide variety of menu options, good service, hot tea served with every dine in meal, great lunch specials (the Beef and Broccoli lunch special is pictured, also includes egg roll or cream cheese wontons). Take out orders are packaged well. Fresh seafood options. Highly recommend!

Food was super tasty and came out fast—they have great lunch specials! Service was friendly and the restaurant had quite a few large tables which is perfect if you’re coming with a large group. Will definitely stop by again for lunch sometime.

The food was delicious. The waiter was really nice and came around multiple times to check in with us and refill water. I especially enjoyed the lobster ginger scallions. I would go back regularly for the yummy food!

There's a lot of seating, the food was good, and didn't take too long. We ate pork fried rice and general tso chicken. The presentation of the food was also nice very colorful (veggies) and they serve you hot tea at no cost.

Really good Chinese food, been multiple times and haven't been let down yet. Staff is hospitable in a "fill your glass when it's halfway full/empty" kind of way. Good atmosphere, not too busy for a wait but a full diner. Get their beef and broccoli and their noodles. The ginger and garlic in the dish is superb and soaks into the leaves of the Chinese broccoli.

Not nearly enough stars. We eat here whenever we are in town. No one does fresher or more perfectly prepared seafood. Wait staff amazing. Value amazing. Best sesame shrimp, baked spicy squid, ginger scallion seafood, garlic fried fish, sole and asparagus or any other seafood menu item.

Great food at a great price. I recommend ordering something you wouldn't normally find in a chain restaurant. Anything with black bean sauce is amazing and the Singapore rice noodles are incredible.
